Sharon Jokela initially worked at Foote Cone & Belding in the San Francisco office, primarily on the MasterCard and Dole accounts.

She then joined Holter & Co., a San Francisco-based boutique ad agency. She designed and wrote copy, and was taught media planning and radio and print media purchasing. The experience in media brought home the importance of designing from a solidly informed position about the market for which the project is being created.

In 1999 Sharon Jokela began her own studio, Jokela Arts, working primarily from Mendocino County and San Francisco. But with the freedom of a Laptop Nomad has met with clients as far away as Texas and New York. Who knows - Italy may be next.
