Sharon Jokela initially worked at Foote Cone & Belding in the San Francisco office, primarily on the MasterCard and Dole accounts.

She then joined Holter & Co., a San Francisco-based boutique ad agency. She designed and wrote copy, and was taught media planning and purchasing. The experience in media brought home the importance of designing from a solidly informed position about the market for which the project is being created.

In 1999 Sharon Jokela began her own studio, Jokela Arts.

She has won prizes for art and design, and some for fencing and huntseat riding - but the most unexpected award was 2nd Place in the San Francisco Urban Fair's Pie Contest. Her Walnut Tart did it.
